## Cost figures and the per-city calculator

- Every city page carries a gutter cost section and an interactive calculator.
- Per-linear-foot ranges are published national figures from Angi (July 2026); the site does not collect or publish contractor rate cards.
- Those national ranges are multiplied by one local index per city. The index is derived from the ACS median home value for the place, or that state's median of place medians where the Census Bureau publishes no value for the place itself.
- The index is damped and bounded to roughly 0.85–1.35, because home values vary about tenfold across U.S. places while installed construction cost does not.
- Gutter length is estimated geometrically: footprint = floor area / stories, perimeter = 4.08 × √footprint, then the eave share for the roof shape (all of the perimeter for hip, about 55% for a simple gable).
- All resulting figures are planning ranges, not quotes. No contractor has quoted them, and a real quote can fall outside the range.
- The calculator is marked up as schema.org WebApplication. Gutter prices are deliberately not marked up as Product or Offer, because they are estimates rather than purchasable offers.
